Opta-style models give Argentina roughly a 65% win probability to Austria’s 14%.
Austria are no pushover — they’re W-W-W-W-D across their last five — but they’ll be without Christoph Baumgartner (out for the tournament) and captain David Alaba was full of respect for the champions in his pre-match comments. France vs Iraq — 5:00 PM ET (Group I)
This is as close to a "free square" as the World Cup offers. France are priced around -1250 (decimal 1.08); Opta-style numbers give them an 88.5% win probability, with the draw at 8.5% and Iraq — at the World Cup for the first time since 1986 and coming off a 4-1 loss to Norway — at just 3%. Kylian Mbappé, already France’s all-time leading scorer after his brace against Senegal (58 goals), could earn his 100th cap here.
At those prices there’s no standalone value on the result. The realistic betting markets are team totals, Mbappé anytime scorer (see our Golden Boot odds for the season-long picture), and a France clean sheet — but watch the team news, with Malo Gusto a training doubt.

Norway vs Senegal — 8:00 PM ET (Group I)
Here’s the match I’ll actually be watching with a ticket in hand. Norway have won 11 straight competitive matches, and Erling Haaland has scored in 11 consecutive Norway games — a frightening run. The market makes Norway a slight favourite at +104 (2.04), with Senegal at +222 (3.22) and the draw at +241 (3.41). Models are closer than the public perception: roughly 45% Norway, 25.4% draw, 29.6% Senegal.
I lean to the value side here. Senegal carry far more tournament pedigree than their opening 1-3 loss to France suggests, and Kalidou Koulibaly is fit and starting. With both teams chasing a result that effectively decides second behind France, I like Senegal’s price to either win or draw on the double chance, and Haaland anytime scorer as a separate small play given his streak.

Jordan vs Algeria — 11:00 PM ET (Group J)
A late one for Canadians, kicking off at 11:00 PM ET on the West Coast clock. Algeria are firm favourites at around -213 (decimal 1.47) after a 0-3 loss to Argentina that flattered the scoreline; Jordan are out at +524 (6.24), with the draw +298 (3.98). Riyad Mahrez is expected back in the Algeria XI after being rested against Argentina. Jordan, for their part, scored their first-ever World Cup goal through Ali Olwan and won’t fear an Algeria side that needs a response.
Pick: Algeria to win, but I’d want the under on goals — Jordan are organised and this could be a grind.
